CFI Canada’s mission is to provide education and training to the public in the application of skeptical, secular, rational and humanistic inquiry through conferences, symposia, lectures, published works and the maintenance of a library.

Ontario makes it illegal to protest outside and near abortion clinics; The legislature passed a bill Wednesday to create zones around the eight clinics in the province of between 50 and 150 metres in which anti-abortion protests, advising a person not to get an abortion, and intimidation or interfering with a woman’s ability to access the services will be banned.

Winnipeg man says faith-based hospital delayed access to assisted death; An 88-year-old Winnipeg man wants to end his life after being confined to a bed for several months with no chance of recovering and says the faith-based hospital where he now lives is delaying that request.

Court hears Toronto pastor extorted sex as part of exorcism; Women testifying in court this week say Wayne Jones extorted sex from them by making claims that included that sex would purge them of evil spirits.

Canada bans Soylent meal replacement over nutrition claims; The Canadian Food Inspection Agency told the company the food does not meet their standards for “meal replacement”.

  • Nov. 5th, Toronto: CFIC T.O. Atheists & Friends Sunday Meetup. CFIC Toronto Atheists & Friends Sunday Meetup is a fun discussion group focusing on a range of topics within the realm of atheism. They’re open to the public and everyone is welcome to join in!
  • Nov. 10th, Toronto: CFIC T.O.’s Nyrd NiteWe all love exercising our minds- whether we’re reading, attending lectures or watching the latest NOVA documentary. But sometimes we just want to hangout and talk about those nerdy things, this is a relaxed discussion group where a nerdy topic may be set or we will just talk about what ever is on our minds like the latest scientific discovery, that real cool documentary you just watched, or the finer points of how history is repeating itself.
  • CFI Ottawa Living without Religion; This support group meets on the every Sunday of each month, 12 noon, at the Fox and Feather Pub
  • Ottawa Secular Chat, where people can drop in and discuss current events, politics, philosophy, etc. from an atheist/agnostic/skeptic/humanist perspective. Secular Chat meets every Sunday at 1:00 PM at the Fox and Feather Pub on Elgin Street.Sunday afternoons
  • CFI Calgary Skeptics in The PubThis group meets on the first Tuesday of every month. Join us for drinks, discussion, and debate about all science and skeptical topics
  • OkanaganSecular Social. Now every second and fourth Monday of the month! Come to the pub and hang out with other skeptics and freethinkers. Mission Tap House and Grill, 3110 Lakeshore Rd., Kelowna. If you don’t recognize anyone, look for the table with the CFI sign.
