Parliamentary E-Petition Opposing Canada’s Blasphemy Law

CFI Canada is proud to join Humanist Canada, BC Humanist Association, Canadian Journalists for Free Expression and a growing list of other organizations in launching Petition e-382 in opposition to Criminal Code Section 296 – Canada’s blasphemous libel law.

-Canada’s health regulator is planning to ban a controversial neonicotinoid pesticide, which it says has contaminated waterways and killed important aquatic insects.

-As if we haven’t got enough fake news around on social media, now comes word that some of Canada’s most prominent medical journals may also be publishing nonsense. The new owner of two of Canada’s most prominent medical journal publishers has been caught in the act of publishing fake science.

-Ginella Massa didn’t just take a big step forward for her career last week. She made a massive stride for diversity in Canada, too. The CityNews reporter took the anchor seat during the network’s late-night newscast on Nov. 17, becoming the first hijab-wearing journalist in Canada to do so at a major broadcaster.

Canada could be coal-free by the end of next decade under plans outlined by the environment minister Catherine McKenna on Monday.
